Preventing work related vibration disease
Hand-arm vibration comes from the use of hand-held power tools. It causes significant ill health (painful and disabling disorders of the blood vessels, nerves and joints).
If you use powered hand-held tools at work, you need to know what should be done by your employer and you to ensure that you don’t end up with hands that cannot help you to hold a cup of tea or pickup things from a table and so on.
This simple but effective LOcHER demonstration shows how nerves and blood vessels could be damaged by exposure to vibration.
This 2 minute film Hand-arm vibration by the International Marine Contractors Association summarises the key points to help you work safe and stay safe when using vibrating tools or workpieces.
This PowerPoint presentation provides an introduction on hand arm vibration exposure at work and what should be done to manage the exposure and minimise ill health.
