Safe systems, electric and hybrid vehicles

About two years ago we were made aware of the need for safe isolation procedures for motor vehicle technicians working on electric and hybrid vehicles (EHVs). Stored energy in batteries in modern day low-carbon-vehicles has the potential to kill unsuspecting workers. Those at risk include motor servicing and repair centres, vehicle recovery services, first responders and emergency services, and inquisitive home mechanic vehicle owners.

We are working with some specialist training providers who deliver an IMI (Institute of Motor Industries) Certified Qualification. Our role in this is to offer talks on safety awareness on a more relaxed, informal basis and generally spread the word.
